These days, my Applied AI work is internal: building the tooling that gives Automattic’s teams access to AI inside the systems they already use.

A lot of it is an MCP server built around pluggable providers. Each one connects a different internal source (internal tools, dashboards, and more) and surfaces its capabilities through progressive disclosure, the same idea behind Agent Skills: the metadata loads up front, the details only when a task needs them.

Earlier, Applied AI meant building AI features into WordPress.com and WooCommerce, alongside the WordPress AI and Abilities teams bringing AI to WordPress Core.
